Severneftegazstro, a Russia-based system integrator, specialising in installation, repair and dismantling of oil and gas pipelines, chose SATCOM, VIVOTEK’S local partner to provide surveillance solutions for a small Russian town. Quite isolated it is only accessible by tracked vehicles in the summer and the nearest train station is about 50 km away. Aside from the challenges of the location, the lack of resources poses strong safety concerns for Severneftegazstro. During low seasons, there are only a few guards stationed to look after the equipment. SATCOM, chose to install 8 VIVOTEK IP8161 CCTV cameras to monitor the town, the equipment and the warehouse via satellite for remote viewing in Moscow.

The IP8161 is a 2-Megapixel, full-HD box camera with a removable IR-cut filter for day & night function and real-time H.264, MPEG-4 and MJPEG compression capability embedded. Once integration with NUUO’s NV-2040 NVR Mini and connection with the VSAT network operator were complete, a communication channel was then established.
