British Transport Police have released shocking images which capture the moment a drunken woman stumbled off a platform under a train. The chilling footage was released in a bid to make people more aware of the dangers of drinking too much over the festive period. CCTV systems at train stations often alert authorities to a range of crimes but luckily on this occasion other passengers were able to help. The video clip shows the woman stepping off the service at Barnsley station, in South Yorks, before lurching backwards and tumbling between the carriage and the platform. She was taken to hospital suffering from only cuts and bruises.

British Transport Police Inspector Graham Bridges said: "This woman was lucky to only end up with a few minor injuries and, had it not been for the alertness of other passengers who helped her, we could have been dealing with potentially serious injuries."
