3D drawings help position security CCTV cameras

3D drawings help position security CCTV cameras Correctly positioning security CCTV cameras is an essential task and one that cannot go wrong.

In order to minimise the risk of placing a camera in the wrong spot, one company is using 3D drawings of prospective sites to decide where is best to place the technology, according to Security Systems News.

Security integrator SGPTI, a Canadian firm, uses Feeling Software's Omnipresence 3D to create virtual models of buildings and subsequently pick the most appropriate angles and positions in which to hang the cameras.

Daniel Jeanson, president of integrator SGPTI, said that the process used to take days, but was now much more straightforward.

He told the news provider: "As soon as the 3D drawings are done I can see exactly how I can position the camera, and it tells me exactly what I would see. I can see if I have the right camera and the right lens without having to install anything."
