Where am I? Home  Video Management Software  360 Degree Camera

360 Degree Camera

The benefit of installing 360 degree cameras are now well recognised by many installers and customers alike. The ability for a single device to be able to continuously record the whole activity over a wide area, in every direction at the same time, and with no moving parts; added to the savings that can be achieved on installation and maintenance budgets, are compelling.

The client de-warping function provided in the Wavestore video management software (VMS) not only enables the original 360 degree image from any panoramic camera (wide-angle, 180 and 360 degree) to be recorded, but specific areas of interest from the entire view can be dynamically selected and de-warped by each user as required using minimal network bandwidth. The customisable linear views, including the whole panoramic image, can also be saved as pre-set views and quickly displayed on the main user interface as operator requests.

Furthermore the de-warping capability available within the Wavestore client software records the original fisheye images captured by any 360 degree camera and can simultaneously display multiple linear de-warped images from the same camera, as well as images from other analogue and network cameras in a multi-image display. The original images captured by the 360 degree cameras are stored unaltered so that specific video data can be copied and authenticated to be suitable for presentation in a court of law.

The combination of 360 degree cameras and the Wavestore VMS software establishes a paradigm shift in video surveillance monitoring, enabling you to create evidential quality video clips of one or many events from any date or time held in the archive. In fact the Wavestore retrospective virtual PTZ feature provides you with the ability to follow subjects as if tracking with a PTZ camera, creating ad hoc video clips around the occurred events.

Wavestore is an ONVIF member and maintains an on-going camera testing programme of technologies from leading manufacturers. Below is a summary of the 360 degree cameras and fisheye lens tested with the Wavestore video management software (VMS).
