Nowadays, there are many analogue (NTSC and PAL) cameras installed in applications around the world and new analogue cameras continue to be produced and installed. On the other side, the IP camera technologies keep improving in capabilities and becoming day by day a more competitive solution for CCTV systems. Analogue and network cameras offer different but important features that can make the difference in your security surveillance system.
For those applications that require both analogue and network (IP and megapixel) cameras to be operational on the same circuit and be managed on a single recording Video Management System (VMS) there are two primary approaches to consider: a digital encoder or a hybrid DVR solution. You can use a digital encoder to convert the analogue signal to digital and thereafter record the IP data stream. In this case, the encoder can be installed either near the analogue camera if a network cable is available or near the network digital video recorder if a coaxial cable is available. However if you want to avoid using external hardware, you can always chose a hybrid DVR as your preferred solution.
Wavestore recognise that each application has unique characteristics and the final specification reflects the decisions made accordingly. For applications that require a hybrid DVR, Wavestore offer hybrid solutions (referred to as hDVR or HVR solutions) which integrate high performance video compression cards and are available with 4, 8 and 16 channels, enabling 4, 8, 16, 24 and 32 analogue inputs(both NTSC and PAL) solutions.

In addition to the analogue inputs, Wavestore HVR's are able to record multiple network (IP and megapixel) cameras concurrently. These network camera inputs can be individually configured from an extensive range of IP and megapixel camera manufacturers using simultaneously M-JPEG, MxPEG, MPEG-4 and H.264 compression formats. The quality of images recorded, the ease with which the user can view and copy specific video content and the capability to upgrade the software as new technology solutions are integrated, makes the Wavestore hybrid DVR an excellent choice for the long term benefit.
Wavestore hybrid DVR solutions are designed on the Linux platform, which includes the remote viewer software operable on Windows (7, Vista, XP) or Linux (Fedora, Ubuntu, Debian) operating systems, and available in a range of different physical solutions, enabling systems with large numbers of analogue and network cameras to be managed and viewed as a single cameras network.
For systems integrators and OEMs, the Wavestore hybrid DVR is available as a packaged solution with the Stretch compression card and software DVR commercially available. If you are a security systems integrator or OEM, please contact us to find out about our international partner programme and how this well established approach can enable you to deliver leading edge recording solutions to your customers at a competitive price and excellent reliability.
With our uncomplicated interface (GUI) and the proprietary SDK, Wavestore provides an effective solution to better customise and manage your CCTV security and surveillance system.
