Former city councillor Elsie Martlew said she was delighted that managers at Marks & Spencer had listened to customers and said she opposed the new automated tills on principle because they could cost jobs. She said many had become annoyed by the long queues which had built up since the tills were introduced – the result of having one queue for both sets of tills. The former councillor was so annoyed that last month she wrote to Marks & Spencer boss Marc Bolland. Now the high street chain has changed the system so there are separate queues for each type of till. http://www.wavestore.com/security-cctv-news/marks-and-spencer-changes-till-and-queue-management-system-after-carlisle-woman-campaign/ Wed, 11 Jan 2012 12:00:00 +0000 16:16:00 China considers bringing in tighter regulations at airports such as facial recognition Chinese legislators are considering new visa rules that would introduce fingerprinting of foreigners wanting to work or study in China. Liam Gould, 24, thought he had got away with a knifepoint raid after he wore a hooded jacket, covered his face with a scarf and wore gloves. But police identified Gould by the tip of his nose thanks to facial recognition technology.
