It comes after a consultation looked at introducing a regulatory code of practice to reduce the level of state surveillance under the Protection of Freedoms Act. ACS pointed out that a voluntary code of practice would stop unnecessary red tape for retailers who use CCTV to protect their business and staff. In its response to the consultation, the government said that the Information Commissioner’s Office will be a key partner in issues around the storage of data from CCTV and license plate recognition to provide greater transparency to the public. http://www.wavestore.com/security-cctv-news/government-acts-on-association-of-convenience-stores-call-for-voluntary-cctv-code/ Mon, 12 Dec 2011 12:00:00 +0000 17:01:00 Raytec host International Partner Conference to showcase latest innovation in lighting for CCTV systems Raytec has been showcasing VARIO as their latest innovation in illumination for CCTV systems at the International Partner Conference 2011. Three months on from the riots the BSIA is reminding town planners, local authorities and community safety groups of the pivotal role played by the surveillance system in the protection of public spaces and communities. The use of surveillance systems and the latest video analytics technology resulted in an excess of 3,000 arrests and has allowed for a positive shift in the general public’s perception. Research commissioned by a member of the BSIA’s CCTV section has in fact revealed that 76 per cent of individuals surveyed feel safer knowing that CCTV systems are in operation in public areas, with 62 per cent saying they would like to see more CCTV in their local area. http://www.wavestore.com/security-cctv-news/three-months-on-from-riots-bsia-says-cctv-systems-still-crucial-to-community-safety/ Fri, 11 Nov 2011 12:00:00 +0000 12:17:00
